AMAZING GRACE
GRACE TO SERVE
A. SERVE GOD
"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which
cannot be shaken, let us have GRACE, by which we may SERVE
God acceptably with reverence and godly fear," Heb 12:28.
"Latreuo" means to serve God or man. Here the
context requires that it means to serve God in all the
ways the Scriptures prescribe. This includes the "all
things" of the Great Commission, which includes the
entirety of the New Covenant.
B. GRACE TO SERVE
"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which
cannot be shaken, let us have GRACE, BY WHICH we may SERVE
GOD acceptably with reverence and godly fear," Heb 12:28.
Can we SERVE God by GRACE? Would we dare say "yes"
to this question? This verse says we can.
"But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against
God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, "Why
have you made me like this?" Rom 9:20.
God gives GRACE to SERVE. Is this not the same as
Paul laboring more abundantly than all the apostles, and
doing it by grace through faith? Is it not the same as
working out our own salvation (the salvation of our lives)
by grace through faith? Is this not the same as grace
being given to us in a stewardship capacity?
God gives us GRACE that we may SERVE Him. Is this
not what is meant by the New Covenant being a covenant of
grace? But again, is it not what is meant by the New
Covenant being administered by the Holy Spirit? The
answers are obviously in the affirmative.
